Dy 16 – Hanging Around

Today was relatively uneventful. We did a little shopping in the morning for some souvenirs, which was fun. I’m still convinced that all malls in China must be required to be 6 levels with shops that average in size of about 10 by 10 or less.

We ate lunch in the room and tried to lay down for a nap, but Samuel wasn’t going for it today. So after an hour of no rest for any of us we gave up and started working on the task of getting ready to travel home.

We went to dinner with some new friends to the Banana Leaf. A few thing to note about this place. It looks expensive, but isn’t. If your order fried rice it will have squid tentacles in it, the tentacles are cut up and yes, they still have the suckers on them. They play live music and dance to entertain the patrons, while we were there they sang Hey Jude and a few other good oldies. The food was not great, but the atmosphere was nice.

After dinner we went to Starbucks to hang out a bit more before going back to our rooms. It was so nice to spend time with our new friends and their son!

That’s our day in a nut shell, the only other thing that was significant today was that we had our first group of friends leave to travel home. It was sad to see them go, but we traded contact information and look forward to remaining in touch. Tomorrow more friends will be leaving, and then on Saturday it will be our turn to head home!

We are so ready to be home! China has been great, but we miss our kids, our family, our friends, and our home. Jess is packing right now and I’m typing this on the iPad (which is why this post is short and has no photos for the moment) because the VPN doesn’t want to work correctly on my computer right now. Any, we are tried and going to bed soon. Hopefully tomorrow’s adventure will be more entertaining.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! Web got Samuels visa today! So we can officially travel home (even though we still have to wait for our flight). Ok, that’s it, good night.
